Meet Celia

Founder & Educator
Hi, I’m Celia.
I began my career as a Primary Teacher within a high school setting. After stepping away from the classroom to raise my three boys, I returned to teaching with fresh eyes—and what I saw was troubling. I began noticing significant gaps in students’ literacy skills.
Many were struggling to keep up, and it left me wondering: why?
That question launched me into a new professional journey—one focused entirely on reading intervention and understanding the science of how children learn to read.
I’ve since worked as a Literacy Interventionist in both public and private schools, across all year levels from K–10. This experience has allowed me to explore a wide range of literacy programs and teaching methods, all of which inform my current approach.
I’ve seen firsthand how early reading difficulties can ripple into later life. I’ve taught students who missed out on those critical early skills and then found themselves lost in high school. And I’ve witnessed the lifelong impacts up close—growing up in a household with a parent from a non-English speaking background, I saw the practical limitations that poor literacy can place on someone’s choices, confidence, and independence. From employment options to something as simple as reading a bill or filling out a form, reading truly is a skill for life.
That’s why I’m so passionate about what we do. Strong literacy opens doors—not just in the classroom, but in every aspect of life. It creates possibilities, autonomy, and confidence. And when a child gains that, it benefits the whole family.
When Judy and I reconnected professionally after many years of friendship, we realised we had both arrived at the same mission from different paths: to help children who are struggling with reading feel empowered, supported, and successful.
Although we teach the same core content, we each bring our own perspective and strengths. My broad teaching experience—from early primary through to high school—allows me to not only teach foundational reading skills, but also deeply understand the long-term impact of what happens when those skills aren’t in place.
Together, Judy and I are helping students unlock their full potential through reading—one confident reader at a time.
